Hestia & Home
Hestia & Home began as a Base44 no-code prototype. It has since been fully rebuilt as an independent Next.js application, with every Base44 dependency removed.
The new platform runs on Next.js App Router and TypeScript, with Prisma and PostgreSQL handling data, NextAuth handling accounts, and Stripe wired in directly for payments. Cloudinary and Supabase Storage handle image uploads across the admin.
The rebuild covers the full storefront, room-led browsing, curated collections, sale, lookbook and journal, alongside a genuinely large admin back office spanning 20 operational modules.

Project Overview
What was built and why it matters
Challenge
The original Base44 build proved the concept but tied every part of the store, products, orders, content and admin, to a single no-code platform. Growing the business meant the client needed real ownership of the codebase, the data and the hosting, without losing any of the premium storefront experience already validated with Base44.
Solution
The entire platform was rebuilt from scratch as an independent Next.js and TypeScript application. Prisma and PostgreSQL replaced the Base44 data layer, NextAuth replaced its authentication, and Stripe was wired in directly for payments. Every storefront experience, room-led browsing, curated collections, lookbook edits, styling requests and the journal, was recreated, alongside a genuinely large admin back office covering products, orders, customers, suppliers, pricing rules, content and staff roles.
Results
The result is a fully independent, production-grade ecommerce codebase with zero remaining Base44 dependency, live on Vercel with a managed PostgreSQL database. The client owns the entire stack, the data and the deployment, and can extend or host it anywhere.

Room to grow without platform limits
Because the codebase is independent, new features, integrations or custom workflows can be added without waiting on a no-code platform's roadmap or pricing tiers.

SEO built into daily admin work
Category and content editors include dedicated search engine fields, so search visibility is managed as part of normal catalogue work, not bolted on afterwards.

Technical approach
Complex underneath, straightforward for the business
The technology was selected to keep a large site consistent, quick to deliver and easier to extend, without forcing the client to understand the engineering behind it.

Next.js App Router and TypeScript
The storefront and admin are one type-safe Next.js application, replacing the Base44 no-code runtime with ordinary, inspectable code.

Prisma and PostgreSQL
Sixteen Prisma models cover products, orders, customers, reviews, content and operational requests, backed by a managed PostgreSQL database instead of a proprietary data layer.

NextAuth and Stripe
Customer accounts and staff logins run on NextAuth, and checkout is wired directly into Stripe's payment intent and webhook flow.

Cloudinary and Supabase media pipeline
Product, lookbook and content imagery upload through signed Cloudinary uploads, with Supabase Storage handling category media.

Deployed on Vercel
The application is deployed on Vercel with a managed PostgreSQL database, environment-based configuration, and no dependency on the original Base44 hosting.
